IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

ICSI

Service description

Strain rederivation by IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is used to produce offspring from sperm samples frozen by an older so called "snap-freeze" protocol (dead sperm). The cryopreserved spermatozoa are injected into oocytes of outbred or inbred mouse strains to generate heterozygous founder animals. ICSI is not required if we have frozen the sperm of your mice after 2016. In this case only IVF is necessary.

Prerequisites

  1.  A completely filled out request form
  2. The GMO datasheet as requested by the veterinary office
  3. An iRATS breeding project opened under researchers own license to be used for weaned offspring (iRATS users only).

Costs

  • The cost of the service is a one-time service fee of 14.300 CHF.
  • An additional fee of 700 CHF will be charged when breeding is to be initiated after successful ICSI, before transfer to target facility
