1. Regular service
The generation of transgenes, gene targeted or edited mice without contribution of institute staff is not a collaboration but a service which is charged accordingly.
2. Scientific contribution to service
The generation of transgenes, gene targeted or edited mice with scientific contribution of institute staff is a collaboration. This means that employees which are directly involved as well as the institute's director have to be mentioned as co-authors on scientific publication of these animal models. The contribution can be for example: input on vectors, methods of analysis, cloning or establishment of new methods. This form of collaboration does not lead to a reduction of the price for the facility’s services.
3. Scientific contribution on a fee for service basis
The form of collaboration as mentioned above (see 2. Scientific contribution to service) can also be performed on a fee for service basis. We will then charge by the hour. This has to be agreed upon in advance.
4. Establishment of new methods within the range of regular service
The generation of transgenes, gene targeted or edited mice using novel methods is a form of collaboration. This means that employees which are directly involved as well as the institute's director have to be mentioned as co-authors on scientific publications. The customer pays the standard fee and the TRT lab can provide services (e.g. additional repetitions) beyond the cost-covering standard. This form of collaboration has to be approved by the institute head and documented accordingly.
5. Scientific collaboration with regard to research at the LTK
The generation of transgenes, gene targeted or edited mice, which afterwards can also be used for research at the LTK can be a collaboration. This means that employees which are directly involved as well as the institute's director have to be mentioned as co-authors on scientific publications. The price of the service can therefore be reduced by up to 50% of the original price. This form of collaboration has to be approved by the institute head and documented accordingly.
